Forthcoming events in 2019/20:
An event on Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) takes place on 12 December 2019 in Manchester, hosted by the University of Salford. The conference will provide delegates with an introduction and understanding of the issues and complexities in the topic of FASD. Delegates will hear from internationally renowned speakers on a range of issues relating to FASD including its history, diagnosis, comorbidity, issues around social care, national healthcare guidelines, behaviour management of children with FASD and more. Also on the 12 December, a Drinking Studies Network (DSN) workshop in Leicester will explore 'Excess, moderation and sobriety'. The DSN is an interdisciplinary and international research group that connects scholars working on drink and drinking culture across different societies and time periods. The Global Alcohol Policy Conference (GAPC2020), ‘Alcohol, Equity and Global Health: the benefit of alcohol control for sustainable development for all’, will be held from Monday 9th March 2020 to Wednesday 11th March 2020 in Dublin Ireland. GAPC2020 will be co-hosted by the Global Alcohol Policy Alliance (GAPA) and the Department of Health in association with their partner organisations, The Health Service Executive, Alcohol Action Ireland, the Institute of Public Health, the Irish Heart Foundation, the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the Irish College of General Practitioners. Two further events of a four part seminar series will take place to discuss issues relating to men and alcohol will take place on 24 January 2020 in Edinburgh on Men and Health, and on 24 March 2020 on Men and Alcohol: What's Next?. The events are co-hosted by Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) and the Institute of Alcohol Studies (IAS) and follows the women and alcohol seminar series held in 2017.
