Alcohol and Pregnancy: A Free Seminar
A University of Stirling and Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) ‘Alcohol and Pregnancy’ seminar takes place at University of Stirling on 1 November 2016 from 09:30-13:00. Alcohol consumption in pregnancy is the leading preventable cause of childhood developmental delay. Bringing together research teams from across the UK, and with a keynote address from WHO-Europe, it will focus on the latest evidence on how to appropriately identify and prevent alcohol consumption in pregnancy, and future innovation in this field. MSc Module in Alcohol Problems, Policy & Practice at Kings College London
Kings College London are running a module on Alcohol Problems, Policy and Practice as part of the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies. The course is delivered via blended learning, with online materials from January 2017 followed by face-to-face teaching from 6-10th February 2017 in London. The training programme allows expertise held by senior academics and colleagues to be imparted to early career researchers and the wider research, policy and professional community. With topics ranging from alcohol and pregnancy, alcohol marketing and brief interventions, aims of the module include:
- Enhance students’ understanding of research methods by focusing on current research in alcohol policy, practice and interventions
- Enable critical appraisal of evidence in alcohol interventions
- Explore the role and perspectives of key stakeholders including the alcohol industry and the role of media and marketing in alcohol use.
