Free UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies event
A free two day conference in collaboration with the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies takes place on 29 and 30th September in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Day one will focus on the attempt to implement evidence-based policies in a challenging political environment while day two will look at the impact of the two substances on the healthcare system. Behavioural science and technology in alcohol reduction services
A free interactive workshop exploring the use of behavioural science to design alcohol intervention technologies takes place on Wednesday 31st August 2016 from 18:30 to 20:30, hosted by innovation agency Fluxx. See here for further information and registration.
Drug and alcohol eduction in schools event
On 19th October 2016 'Evidence-based best practice in alcohol and drugs education - Empowering young people to make healthy choices' takes place at Middlesex University, London. The conference, delivered by The Alcohol Education Trust and Mentor UK, aims to showcase evidence-based and effective good practice that can be used in UK education settings. City Health 2016, London
On Monday 19th September, City Health 2016 returns to London with ‘Public Health: Know Your Limits’: putting the public at the centre of urban health'. The day will explore the role of cities and public authorities in responding to the needs of their communities to ensure health and well-being. Further info and registration here.

UKCTAS Alcohol Policy in Practice
Alcohol Concern's 2016 conference takes place in Swansea, Wales on 22 September. 'Saving lives: Understanding the links between alcohol and suicide' will explore key questions including what exactly is the association between alcohol and suicide, who are the groups most at-risk, and how do we best offer support to family and friends after a suicide. INEBRIA 2016
The International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol & Other drugs (INEBRIA) 13th congress takes place on 22-23 September 2016 in Lausanne, Switzerland exploring 'The challenge of complexity: updating models and practice' in brief interventions. Alcohol–related liver disease workshop
The James Lind Alliance is seeking particpants for a workshop on 16th September 2016 in London where patients, care givers and practicing health professionals will come together to develop alcohol-related liver disease research. The research priority setting partnership (PSP) in alcohol-related liver disease is on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research and the British Society of Gastroenterology.
