'Digital' IBA symposium
An event exploring the role of 'digital' (aka online or app technologies) 'Identification & Brief Advice' takes place in London on Wednesday 15 June. The symposium aims to explore: How can digital enhance and amplify IBA approaches in local settings? In which settings and for which audiences do digital IBA approaches work best? How can digital IBA lead to increased equity and access in preventative intervention in alcohol related harm? See here for more information and registration.

2016 Alcohol Concern Cymru Conference: alcohol and suicide
Alcohol Concern's 2016 conference takes place in Swansea, Wales on 22 September. 'Saving lives: Understanding the links between alcohol and suicide' will explore and encourage discussion of key questions including what exactly is the association between alcohol and suicide, who are the groups most at-risk, and how do we best offer support to family and friends after a suicide. Other events
A limited number of spaces are available for an 'Alcohol and Health Policy' seminar on 21 June in London, organised by the ESRC International Centre for Lifecourse Studies (ICLS) based at UCL. The next Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) 'occasional seminar' takes place in Edinburgh on 14 June, exploring Adolescent binge drinking in Chile: Does it matter which school they go to?.
A 'Westminster Forum Event' with a particular focus on industry favoured policy topics such as partnerships takes place on the morning of 27 October - and with a standard ticket of £210 plus VAT (concessionary rates also advertised) - may not appeal to the majority of APUK readers.
INEBRIA 2016
The International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol & Other drugs (INEBRIA) 13th congress takes place on 22-23 September 2016 (preconference September 21st) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The event will be exploring 'The challenge of complexity: updating models and practice' in brief interventions. See here for the INEBRIA 2016 Flyer [pdf]. Research opportunities
A PhD opportunity looking at Nalmefene (a drug for alcohol dependence) prescribing patterns and influences (including regulatory decisions and marketing) is open with Stirling University. The PhD is fully funded for fees and a stipend for UK/EU students (co funded by Alcohol Research UK). Deadline for application: 31st May 2016 - see here for details.
Middlesex university are now recruiting students for a MA in Comparative Drug and Alcohol Studies starting in Sept 2016. The part-time course is distance learning - see here for more information.
