Alcohol Awareness Week 19th November
Alcohol Concern have announced the date for Alcohol Awareness Week 2012 will be November 19-25. Last year supporter organisations said a date in the run-up to Christmas lent itself to making people think about alcohol and the amount they consume. The theme for this year is 'stigma', which may be interpreted differently depending on local needs.
How can local authorities tackle low cost alcohol?
In Manchester on the 18 May 2012, Public Health groups and partners in the North West are hosting a free national conference to look at how can local authorities tackle low cost alcohol. It will explore the new powers and opportunities open to Local Authorities and partners - see here for further information and booking.
Alcohol Academy events - implementing the new strategy
Another free Alcohol Academy event for alcohol leads and commissioners to explore local implications of the new alcohol strategy has been announced for the 17th May in Birmingham. The afternoon event will cover the new strategy and a range of implications for local level action, from treatment and early intervention to criminal justice. 9th INEBRIA conference
The 9th INEBRIA conference on brief interventions will take place on 27- 28 September 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The event explores From Clinical practice to Public Health: The two dimensions of Brief Interventions'. INEBRIA - the International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol Problems - brings together those working to develop brief interventions, also known as IBA in England, to share learning and practice.
NDSAG 2012 - final call!
The final programme for New Directions in the Study of Alcohol Group (NDSAG) 2012 is now available. The conference, with Professor Stephen Rollnick supporting the theme of 21 years of experience and the future for motivational interviewing, takes place from Thursday 24th May 2012 to Sunday 27th, in Llandindrod Wells, Powys, Wales.
