Alcohol Awareness Week (AWW) will run from 14th November to 20th November 2011, during which Alcohol Concern will launch an 'Alcohol Charter' for a world free from alcohol harm.
The ‘alcohol charter’ campaign has the following goals:
- 100,000 people signing up to the charter
- All MPs and Peers signing up to the charter
- Charter adopted in forthcoming alcohol strategy
- Charter paves way for political discussion on precise goals and policies needed
Alcohol Concern wish to encourage people to get involved during awareness week in a national online conversation to consider, discuss and respond to two questions about our national relationship with alcohol:
- Is the social cost of alcohol too high?
- What is a drink problem?
What you can do to support the charter's aims when it is launched for AWW:
- Sign the Alcohol Concern charter when it appears on the Alcohol Concern website www.alcoholconcern.org.uk
- Invite your MP and your councillors to meet with you during Alcohol Awareness week, and encourage them to sign the charter too
- Disseminate the Charter and Facebook links as widely as possible during the week
- Use the opportunity to engage with them on the subject of your choice, ie. cheap alcohol and argue for minimum pricing per unit
- Join the on-line discussion at Alcohol Concern
