Clare Stevens, Research Associate at Australia's National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) writes:
NDRI conducts and disseminates high quality research that contributes to the primary prevention of harmful drug use and the reduction of drug related harm in Australia. One key focus of NDRI is school and community intervention. The School Health and Alcohol Harm Reduction Project (SHAHRP) was developed by NDRI as a research study to assess the effectiveness of an evidence-based curriculum program in reducing the alcohol related harm that young people experience.
The SHAHRP intervention adopts a harm minimisation approach and has proven successful in providing young people with sufficient practical skills to identify and deal with the risks associated with alcohol use. Given the high demand for this intervention within Australia, we now wish to provide an online Bulletin about the SHAHRP study and programme to interested organisations in other countries.
