Here's a small selection.
From BBC Scotland: Police are investigating into the deaths of four people in separate incidents over New Year. The story doesn't make explicit links to alcohol, but two of the deaths involved New Year parties.
From Manchester Evening News: "Partygoers in Greater Manchester celebrated the first New Year under 24-hour drinking laws by falling over rather than falling out. Fears that new round-the-clock licensing regulations would lead to an increase in alcohol-fuelled violence in pubs and bars proved unfounded as drinkers partied in peace. But there was a marked increase in the number of revellers who hurt themselves by falling over drunk - with more than 100 people requiring treatment for their injuries."
From the Guardian: "Thirty-five people were treated for stab wounds during New Year's Eve celebrations in London as the capital's ambulance service reported a "horrifying" spate of knife attacks and a record number of emergency calls. While many senior police officers played down the effect of the change in drinking hours, there were violent incidents across the country as a night of partying extended well into the morning under the revised licensing laws."
The story continues with news of serious violence in Brimsby, Hackney, Stroud, Derbyshire and Southampton. Emergency Service reports from elsewhere suggest a very busy night.
