HAROLD BASTOW

I HAD TO STOP DRINKING 22 YEARS AGO.I COULD DRINK AS MUCH BEER AS I COULD FIND THE MONEY FOR,WITHOUT GOING OUT OF THE PUB,ANY WORSE FOR WEAR.I WAS A ALCHOLIC,BUT REFUSED TO BELIEVE IT.I NEVER HAD HANGOVERS,OR MISSED WORK,WITH DRINKING.MY PARTNER,LEFT ME,AND THATS WHERE MY TROUBLES REALLY STARTED.SHE HAD BEEN KEEPING ME WELL FED,DURING MY BOOZING YEARS,BUT I DID THE OPPOSITE.I DID NOT PREPARE MYSELF ANY MEALS,AND RELIED ON PUB FOOD.THERE WAS MANY TIMES,THAT THE PUB HAD SOLD OUT OF BAR MEALS AT NIGHT TIME,SO I FOUND MYSELF MISSING FOOD FOR DAYS AT A TIME.I STARTED TO FEEL UNWELL,BUT CONTINUED TO WORK.I LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT,AND FELT SO BAD.ONE NIGHT I WENT FOR MY REGULAR BEER,AND FOUND MYSELF FRESH,AFTER ONE SWIG.I LEFT MY BEER,AND WENT HOME.THIS WAS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT.ON MONDAY,I WAS FEELING JUST THE SAME.IT WAS MY LIVER TELLING ME,THAT IT COULD TAKE NO MORE.THIS LEAD ME TO MY DOCTORS.RESULT NICOTINE AND ALCOHOLIC POISENING.I WAS GIVEN NO HELP,ONY A WARNING.I AM STILL HERE,WITH NO OUTWARD SIGNS OF THIS ILLNESS.BUT I DO KNOW,MY LIVER WILL NEVER TAKE BEER AGAIN.
